The centre was once a private estate. When the owner passed away his wife donated the property to Trinidad as a nature, ecological retreat.

Early morning trip to the fresh market in Port of Spain, veggies, fruits, spices, meats and fresh caught fish.
We bought jumbo shrimp for tonights jambalaya (6 dollars a pound).

On our way to Port of Spain, we stopped for a Trini breakfast of doubles (Chick peas and mango chutney served on doughy bread) dished out from that back this guys car.

From March to August, the endangered Leatherback turtles came back to Trinidad to lay their eggs, always coming back to the same beach where they were hatched. Watching these large creatures lay their eggs is a magical experience.
We all stood on the beach in darkness waiting for one to emerge from the ocean. Knowing that these creatures have travelled hundreds and sometimes thousands of miles to reach their beach made it all the more awesome.

Leatherback turtle eggs, unfortunately only a few hatchlings will survive.

We are given an opportunity to connect with the Leatherback while she is laying her eggs.

Carmen holds a newly hatched Leatherback turtle. Which will soon find its way to the Ocean.

We took Andrew and Carmen on a side trip to the island of Tobago. Where we stayed at Blue Waters Inn on Batteaux Bay.

We took a day trip to Maracus Beach on the northeast coast of Trinidad. On the way to the beach we stopped at a lookout and took this picture overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
