St. Martin to St. Kitts

Greeting from St. Kitts

We arrived on May 31. It took about 7 hours to get here from St. Martin. It was such a beautiful day to be on the water, we decided to pass by St. Barts. We did run into a rain squall off the coast of the island of Statia, but had seen it coming on the radar so we were able to go "around" the heaviest rainfall. Other than that these islands are spectacular.

Statia has an old volcano cone which has a rise of 2000 ft. Lots of interesting history here. Statia comes first after St. Barts, then St. Kitts. We traveled along the Lee of the island (south coast), very mountainous, rain forest. There's a fort right on the water high on a hill (Brimstone Hill ) called Ft. Charles. It is so well preserved it looks like they still use it.

Gary and I feel like we're discovering the New World.

We are in the marina at Basseterre on St. Kitts. We can see the island of Nevis which has a mountain over 3000 ft. Pretty ah some!

So far we’ve been to a beach bbq, chicken, ribs, fish and corn on the cob. yummy! and a tour of the island

We are planning to stay for a few days and do some exploring.
